Damhnait Doyle
Damhnait Doyle is part of the Canadian supergroup Shaye (not to be confused with the Instant Star character named Shay),. Shaye appeared in the first season as one of the performers on a charity telethon, so Damhnait (pronounced Dav-net) has actually performed on-screen as a singer in Instant Star. But her work on the series has been primarily behind the scenes as a songwriter, having co-written many of the Instant Star songs, including 24 Hours, Time To Be Your 21, Liar Liar, Anyone But You, and this season’s I Will Be the Flame, Don’t You Dare, and Just the Beginning.
She has also worked with Alexz Johnson, co-writing two of the songs on Songs from Instant Star and four of the songs on Songs from Instant Star Two. The song Say What You Will has also featuresd in Degrassi: The Next Generation's latest episode - The Bitterest Pill. She did a duet with Rex Goudie on his new album Look Closer for the song Like I Was Dying.
Lindsay Robins
Most performers on Instant Star are singers in real life and so perform their own songs in the series. The Patsy Sewer character is a partial exception—while often Patsy’s wildest vocalizings are indeed rendered by Zoie Palmer, the more polished performances of songs like Shooting Star and last season’s Never Enough have actually featured the voice of rising Canadian rock star Lindsay Robins. In fact Lindsay, who is signed to Aquarius Records, was also a co-writer of Never Enough.
Lindsay Robins speaks 3 languages and makes her own stage clothing. She also wrote a song for the television series "Instant Star" entitled "Never Enough", that was featured 4 times in the 2nd series.
